    • Mechanical problems: loosening/migration of hardware (Fig. 28), hardware breakage, malposition (fracture not adequately fixed or, for example, intra-articular position of hardware)
    • Infected hardware
    • Osteonecrosis due to disruption of blood supply, for example, by overly aggressive plate fixation
    • Pain or restricted motion (due to irritation of surrounding structures such as muscles/tendons/joints/nerves/skin)
